Nia Bankova is a dancer, choreographer, writer, and filmmaker with Balkan roots. She is a classically trained dancer who went on to study modern and contemporary movement at Alvin Ailey and Joffrey Ballet School. Nia earned her bachelor’s degree in English Literature from UC Berkeley. Her performance art and literature background led her to study screenwriting at FAMU International in Prague, where she collaborated across production departments, developing scripts, treatments, and script supervising on set. She has been working on film sets since. Currently, she dances in and choreographs projects for film, theatre, club events, and social media. She has experience preparing movement for analog shoots, live performances, art installations, and has worked with both dancers and non-dancers.
